Travel allowance

if you use your own vehicle.

If you travel to work by private car rather than public transport, your employer can pay you an allowance towards your travel costs. This must be based on the tax regulations for income-related expenses. Your employer must then pay tax on these payments at a flat rate and you do not have to pay any additional tax. If you receive this allowance, you can no longer deduct the travel costs as income-related expenses in your income tax return. It is not possible to receive a tax-free travel allowance and a job ticket at the same time. As the travel allowance tends to involve a lot of effort in payroll accounting and is repeatedly classified by tax auditors as a taxable wage replacement benefit resulting in the employer having to pay tax and social security contributions in arrears, this benefit tends to be used less frequently.

If employers pay their employees a travel allowance, they can specify this benefit as a criterion for the fairerjob@logistics premium seal.
