Meal allowance

a tax-free snack.

A meal allowance is normally organized via a meal voucher. Ultimately, it is an allowance from your employer for lunch. This can be in the form of a paper voucher or via an app. The tax regulations for this are somewhat complicated, but your boss can organize this benefit as a tax-free benefit in kind for you. In return, they have to pay tax on a certain amount at a flat rate. This means that you can eat up to 15 times a month, currently up to €7.50 per day, subsidized by your employer, without having to provide any further proof. There are different options for the meal allowance: a voucher as a fixed allowance per day, an allowance that is settled like a credit via an app or the reimbursement of actual meal costs up to a maximum amount against receipt. Your employer is not allowed to pay you a meal allowance for days on which you receive expenses.

If employers pay their employees a meal allowance, they can specify this benefit as a criterion for the fairerjob@logistik premium seal.
