Increased expenses

We have already explained the situation regarding expenses in the article on expenses for the basic seal. It is possible for your employer to pay you a higher expense rate and therefore more than the normal expenses. The increased expense rate can be up to twice the amount of the normal expenses. If you are absent for more than 8 hours but less than 24 hours in one day, the expense rate can be up to 28 euros instead of 14 euros and up to 48 euros for a whole day. This higher expense allowance rate is also exempt from tax and social security contributions for you as an employee. The employer pays a flat-rate tax on this payment for you at its own expense.
